About Tim Daley
I started playing guitar at the age of 17 (I am now 51). My initial interest in music was with Heavy Rock / Metal. I got ‘obsessed’ with guitar when I was at university often playing for up to 8 hours a day. At that time I was into people like Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt etc…
Over the years I have played in various bands, in a variety of styles and have done studio work as well as playing in musical performances, orchestras etc…
I have a deep understanding of theory and spend hours in my home studio practicing and studying theory. I use this within my lessons as I feel that it is important that students know why music works. As an example I would encourage students to think of chord tones while soloing and landing on root, third or fifth notes as these are strong places to land giving resolution to a melody. So many guitarists solo indifferently to this concept or don’t understand how to apply it.
I have taught guitar to hundreds of students ranging from 6 year olds to 60 year olds and currently teach approximately 50 children per week in Shropshire Schools as well as teaching privately at home. I am also a fully qualified school teacher as well as a guitar teacher for Shropshire Music Service (as such I have full DBS)
