The Gibson ES 175 made its debut way back in 1949 and has been in continuous production ever since. This type of guitar is referred to as an arch top due to its curved body shape which is based on the shape of a violin. Its renowned for its warm, clear tone and is used by many Jazz guitarists including the legendary Joe Pass, Steve Howe from the band Yes and Scotty Moore who was Elvis’ guitarist although he used a variation called the ES 295.
